After the Flood

The floods of 2011 destroyed communities across upstate New York.

Hurricane Irene and then Tropical Storm Lee caused a 500-year flood in towns along the Susquehanna and Delaware Rivers. I am now photographing life in 6 towns as people try to rebuild. Currently, several of these communities are applying for NY and federal funds to do massive reconstruction — as in Sidney (above) where they plan to relocate much of downtown up the hill.

The book Flood 2011 published in Dec. 2011 (boring title, I know), features my work and other photographers working for the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin. In 2013, photos from this book were on exhibit at the Vestal Museum.
